Block printing is an age-old printmaking practice that stems from many countries including China, Japan, Korea, India and parts of Europe.

Printing can take many forms and the blocks, tools, and inks might look a little or a lot different based off, but at the end the overall process remains the same – a pattern, text, or design is created, a block is carved, and then the design is printed onto a surface.

Process of block printing:

At blocbrotherstextiles, we work with several artisans, each decked with a unique skill than others. Our artisans make us who we are and are the strongest pillar of our strength.

Below are the steps to process the block printing:

CARVING THE BLOCK: 
A Carving Block: A master block maker will make a design onto a wooden block. The blocks used for printing are of reused and recycled wood. We have thousands of blocks that have different types of designs and patterns in our manufacturing unit. 

MIXING THE COLOR: 
Block printing ink/color: we create a color by Mixing the different types of colors to print on fabric. 

PREPARING THE FABRIC: 
Spreading and setting up the fabric on the table with the help of pin, to print on the fabric.  

PRINTING: 
Print on fabric: Once the colors are mixed, the master block printer pours the dyes onto a rolling dye tray. The tray has several layers of gauze cloth and print it on the fabric. 
The process of dipping the blocks in color and carefully placing them on the fabric with absolute precision is the result of the sheer talent and craftsmanship of the artisans. The process sure is time-consuming, but the rewards are plenty!

It all started with a wish to preserve and promote the beautiful handmade textiles that are slowly losing against the world that’s passing by very fast! It bothered us that handmade crafts and craftsmanship were so undervalued, especially in countries like India where survival was more important. With the passion to do something about it. 
 
We have our own manufacturing unit located in the city of Nizams – Hyderabad (India), since 2002.  
In 2002, Bloc Brothers Textile opened its manufacturing unit for block printing on fabrics by Mohd Muslim under the name of his elder son as ‘Mustaqeem Block Printing.’ Now, we have redesigned and rebranded ourselves as BLOCBROTHERSTEXTILE to cover all sectors of textiles apart from block printing.

Hello, I am Mohammed Mustaqeem the Founder and CEO of BLOCBROTHERSTEXTILE. I have worked as an artisan with my father and brother in our manufacturing unit since my childhood, and my endless energy and strong sense of adventure led me to decide to found BlocBrothersTextile. 
 
After completing my graduation with Mechanical Engineering and working as a corporate employee, I always had in my mind to grow my father’s business. Then, I decided to provide high-quality block printed and textile products at a low cost directly from the manufacturer to you.
